Martijn Meijers
Dat ben ik. Geboren op 24 september '81, te Delft, Zuid-Holland.
Al mijn hele leven woon ik in Naaldwijk, een plaatsje in het bedrijvige Westland. Na mijn basisschool- en middelbare-schooltijd, ben ik terecht gekomen bij de studie Geodesie en Geo-informatica aan de Hogeschool van Utrecht. Deze studie is inmiddels succesvol afgerond. Sinds september 2003 volg ik een master aan de TU te Delft. Onderwerp van studie is geo-informatie en de inzet daarvan om de wereld leefbaarder te maken en hopelijk te houden:
Our physical surroundings are constantly changing; sometimes due to natural causes, often because of man-made changes. Large amounts of Geo-Information (also called spatial or land information) are needed to monitor, administer and influence
this. Mainly due to rapid technological developments, more and more geospatial data becomes available, acquired through an increasing array of techniques. Still much needs to be accomplished to extract the right (integrated and appropriate)
information for real-life applications from these data.
In many respects land is the base for the existence of mankind. The pressures from mankind on land are increasing constantly, due to population growth and/or economic development. To keep using the land in a sustainable way under these
circumstances is a great challenge to mankind, and calls for explicit land management. This management of land needs to be supported through land administration, including much Geo-Information.
Naast mijn studiebezigheden houd ik mij nog met wat andere dingen bezig: Scouting komt op de eerste plaats, zowel bij mijn eigen groep, als Team Internet, kampeerterrein Staelduin en de Eifel Experience. Verder houd ik dan nog wel eens wat tijd over voor het programmeren van webapplicaties, nadenken over gebruiksvriendelijkheid en toegankelijkheid van internetpagina's, geo-cachen, gezellig eten met vrienden, een kaartje leggen, naar de film, een spelletje spelen, muziek luisteren, een gratis festivalletje meepikken, ... Leuke dingen allemaal.
